Preet Bharara Joins Media Company Some Spider Studios

Former U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York Will Step Into Executive Leadership Role & Host of New Podcast

Some Spider Studios announced today that Preet Bharara, Distinguished Scholar in Residence at NYU School of Law and former U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York, will be joining the media company as Executive Vice President.

As a member of the Some Spider Studios leadership team, Bharara will serve as a key strategic adviser for the company and work with one of the company’s popular brands, CAFE, to develop and host a new podcast, “Stay Tuned with Preet.” The podcast, which will debut soon, is a series focused on justice and fairness.

Vinit Bharara, Some Spider Studios Founder, CEO, and younger brother of Preet, remarked, ”From as far back as I can remember, I've always had a front-row seat to the Preet show,” said Vinit. "A fearless idealist—obsessed with fairness—he always had this special way of knowing how to inspire and break through the noise with thoughtfulness and perfectly-timed wit. None of his success has surprised me and I couldn't be more proud to welcome my brother to our team and to significantly invest in products and platforms that will further amplify his unique voice and reach. Plus, it gives me great pleasure to finally be his boss! Just kidding. Mom and Dad, we promise to behave.”

Bharara will also bring his perspective to platforms outside of his podcast and spearhead the first CAFE CON in 2018 that would bring together rising young stars with established leaders – again to explore issues of justice and fairness in a way that inspires, motivates, and entertains.

Preet said, “I am beyond thrilled to join my brother Vinit’s media start-up company Some Spider Studios as an adviser, stakeholder and content producer. I am excited for a number of reasons beyond the presumed job security that derives from working for your sibling. It is an opportunity at this extraordinary moment in history to add my voice to both classic and current-day debates about justice and fairness in the law, government and society.  And it is a privilege to work alongside a fearless and visionary entrepreneur like my brother, Vinit, who defied the odds to create an exceptional company like Quidsi with Some Spider investor Marc Lore, our high school classmate. This enterprise will be no different and that is a thrilling thing to be a part of.” Full statement can be found on CAFE.

Preet Bharara served for seven and a half years as the U.S. Attorney for Southern District of New York. Under Bharara’s leadership, the office experienced one of the most productive periods in its history, handling cases involving terrorism, arms trafficking, financial fraud, gang violence, organized crime, civil rights violations, and public corruption.

In 2012, Bharara was featured on the cover of TIME magazine and its list, “100 Most Influential People in the World.” From 2012 to 2016, Bharara was also included in Vanity Fair’s “New Establishment lists,” Worth magazine’s “The Power 100: The 100 Most Powerful People in Finance,” and included in Bloomberg Markets “50 Most Influential” list in 2014. The New York Times dubbed Bharara as one of “the nation’s most aggressive and outspoken prosecutors.”

In March 2017, after having been asked personally by the President-Elect to stay on, Mr. Bharara was fired by President Trump. Bharara has continued to use his voice to advocate for justice, against corruption and in support of public service.

The hiring of Bharara comes on the heels of the company being named among the Top 100 Most Influential Media Company in the U.S. (#44) by Comscore partner, Shareablee; the hiring of former Fusion Head of Comedy and development executive Bryan Carmel to lead video strategy for CAFE and open its LA office; and the hiring of Creative Director Nick Fabiano, who until recently, ran BuzzFeed’s branded content studio in New York.
